How To Keep Your Wardrobe On Trend And On Budget This London Fashion Week

As London Fashion Week 2016 comes to an end, you may well have seen the papers and magazines full of the latest trends and designs from all the glamorous celebrity events. With infinite budget, most of us wouldn’t think twice about picking up a few bits straight from the catwalk But, realistically, these aren’t things we can just dip into our pockets for. Maintaining a high fashion look can cost hundreds or even thousands of pounds, and that’s the kind of money many of us simply don’t have to spare.

Luckily for us, though, there are dozens of great fashion bloggers out there who know how to achieve catwalk looks and stay on top of the latest trends, without stretching your finances too far. Why not try picking up bargains from the high street, or doing a little bit of make your own at home? We’ve picked out a few of our favourite bloggers who are full of ideas to help even those on the tightest budgets find ways to update their wardrobes.

A few of our favourite budget fashion tips

Repair and revive

Some pieces simply never go out of style. Breathe a new lease of life into much loved items that have seen better days by repairing them rather than replacing them. Get shoes re-heeled and resoled, shave your knitwear to remove bobbles (yes, you read that right!) and get cheap repairs and alterations from your local dry-cleaner. You’ll soon have a wardrobe full of on season, on trend clothes to wear without having to fork out a fortune for them!

Go vintage

Fashion goes around in circles, with today’s trends taking inspiration from the trends of years gone by. To keep up with what’s “in”, why not go and raid your local charity or vintage shops for bargains, or better yet, see if you can have a rummage in your parents’ or an older sibling’s wardrobe to see if they’ve been holding onto anything from the first time it was in fashion that they’ll let you take off their hands?

Think quality over quantity

If you do need to replace an item that, even with the best will in the world, just can’t be salvaged, think about the quality of what you replace it with. Buying something cheap as chips may be a quick fix and suit your budget, but it won’t be long before your replacement needs to be replaced and you have to spend again. Saving for a little longer, or waiting for a sale to snap up a bargain, and buying a good quality and timeless replacement will make sure that your new item lasts you for many seasons to come, making it a better value purchase in the long run!

How to budget

Being a fashionista while staying within a fixed and limited income might seem impossible, and setting yourself a budget can be a daunting and complicated task – thinking about balancing your income, your essential expenses and your luxuries can be a lot to get your head around! There are some small, simple steps you can take to begin, though, and it really isn’t as difficult as you might think.
