A DIY Facial

A facial is one of the best ways to make yourself feel revitalised and refreshed, but you don’t need to spend a fortune on a mask or products, you can use things from your cupboards! Blending a little natural yoghurt, cold cream, honey, aloe vera gel and avocado will do wonders for your skin. Gently apply it to your face in circular motions; it’s recommended to use a clean foundation brush for this, but it’s not essential and your hands will do just as good a job. Let it dry for roughly 20 minutes and then thoroughly rinse to reveal refreshed and soft skin.

A Cucumber Eye Gel

You always see cucumber used over the eyes during a face mask. This is because cucumbers have anti-inflammatory properties to reduce any redness and soothe your skin. You can treat any puffy under-eyes with a homemade cucumber eye gel. Simply combine 5-8 tablespoons of aloe vera gel with half a cucumber, blended. Leave your mixture in the fridge for an hour to cool before applying gently under the eyes. This one is to be rubbed in and doesn’t need a rinse.

A Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Your skin isn’t the only thing that will benefit from a DIY spa treatment. Coconut oil can create miracles with hair, especially hair that is naturally dry or frizzy. Simply warm the coconut oil in a pan until melted and again add a bit of honey. Allow the mixture to cool before applying it to the ends of your hair. Leave it for 20 minutes before washing out to reveal moisturised, shiny hair.

Lemon Water

A spa day isn’t complete without refreshments! However, instead of reaching for the wine, you could help add to your body care regime with some detoxifying lemon water. This concoction is kind to your skin and will leave you feeling refreshed. Simply dice some lemons and allow them to infuse in a jug of water. Adding a few springs of mint makes it even tastier.

A Brown Sugar Scrub

A sugar scrub is great for gently exfoliating your body while leaving it soft and smooth. This one only involves three ingredients: a cup of olive oil, a cup of raw oatmeal and a cup of brown sugar. Mix all of these ingredients and apply on clean, dry skin. You only need to use your hands when applying this sugar scrub, and it’s helpful to do it in slow circular motions. Afterwards, hop into the shower and rinse off to reveal super soft skin.
